Integration of Productivity Programs - 3 Credits

This course will cover the MS Office Suite. Word will include beginning features such as spell checker, the thesaurus, and the outline capabilities to intermediate (columns, writing tools, graphics) and onto advanced features (merging data). Excel provides special tools to help make sense out of vast amounts of data. Excel can be used to perform calculations using built-in formulas, everything from Standard Deviation to calculating your car payment, calculate grades, chart data that would otherwise be overwhelming. Components of PowerPoint such as text, graphs, 3-D objects, and animation will be covered. Access will be used to learn databases and their uses. Teachers spend a great deal of their time finding and implementing challenging assignments. Technology tools are available for teachers to make this task simpler and less time-consuming. Becoming familiar with these tools leaves teachers with more time to focus on instructional planning and methodologies. This class will assist teachers to create classroom or professional development projects focusing on the merging of state of the art computer technologies with project based curriculum designs. The course will provide guidance and assistance to teachers to implement course objectives in their classroom or workplace. In this course you will learn techniques for creating multi-page documents, you will build upon those skills, learning more about manipulating text, pictures, and pages.
